LunatiK ARL NASCAR Trucks : Race 2 Watkins Glen

The Martin Sports LunatiK Trucks were back in action Thursday July 29th, in sunny New York state as the Apex Racing League NASCAR Truck league returned. Bradley Wilson and Andrew Navarro looked to continue their dominance after a fantastic one two finish at Daytona the week before. Qualifying did not go the way both drivers would have wanted. Navarro was on the second row in P4 and Wilson qualified in 10th. The lights went green as the trucks headed down the straight towards the fast right hander. Navarro was able to sneak into P3 after turn one and Wilson holding P10. The field started to settle in after the first lap with only a couple spin outs by the back markers. Wilson started to drop a couple positions with around 24 laps to go while Navarro held onto third. With 18 laps remaining in the race the leader pit which saw Navarro move into second. The following lap the leader pit and Navarro attempted an overcut. With 15 laps to go and a 23 second gap Navarro came into the pits to take fuel and make a call to just take left side tires. The strategy call got him to come back out of the pits in P3 a couple of seconds off the leader. Unfortunately the strategy call decided to bite Navarro in the butt with about 5 laps to go his pace dropped off significantly compared to his competitors who took a full set of new tires. Wilson was battling with multiple cars to get back as many places as he could but incurred some damage and spun, he recovered with a P12 finish. Navarro fell down to finish in P8, not what both drivers would have wanted.

Both drivers look to recoup next week Thursday August 5th, at 3pm est as the league returns to the oval at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Huge thank you to Martin Sports for their continued support! More pictures and up to date standings can be found on Apex Racing League’s Website here.
